Copenhagen: Former Cardiologist Sanjay Sharma has ruled out the possibility of Christian Eriksen having a heart attack after collapsing on the pitch during a Euro Cup match.
Sharma was the player’s cardiologist when he was part of Eriksen Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur. He confirmed that the player had no heart problems during his time playing for Tottenham. All three of his tests were satisfactory when he arrived at Tottenham in 2013, said Sharma, a doctor at St George’s University in London.
“I wondered if we had missed anything in the past after yesterday’s incident. But I looked at all the test results and there was nothing wrong with anything. It has been my job to check on him every year since the day we (Tottenham) signed him. Until 2019, all his tests were normal. There were no cardiac abnormalities. I can assure you. “Because I did all the tests,” said Sharma in an interview with media. Team doctor Morton Bosen said Eriksen had spoken before being transferred to the hospital.
The team doctor said this at a post-match press conference. Morton Bosen said he had shortness of breath and pulse as he approached Eriksson, who fell to the ground.
The incident happened 42 minutes after Saturday’s match against Finland. Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen fell to the ground as he tried to receive the ball from a throw in the opposite half. The video also shows the ball hitting Eriksen’s leg and going out. Although not noticed by a close teammate, the Finnish players quickly recognized the danger and drew the referee’s attention. Anthony Taylor, who was in control of the game, immediately called the medical team and provided emergency care. The Danish players were praying around Eriksen. The audience was shocked by the incident. He was rushed to hospital after 15 minutes of care.
UEFA then said that the player’s health was satisfactory. The match was called off but resumed at the request of players from both teams. The match resumed one hour and 45 minutes later.
