ചെങ്ങന്നൂര്: ബൈക്കില് കടത്തുകയായിരുന്ന 20 കിലോ കഞ്ചാവ് എക്സൈസ് സംഘം പിടികൂടി. തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് സ്പെഷ്യല് ഡ്രൈവിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി നടത്തിയ പരിശോധനയിലാണ് അരക്കോടിയിലധികം രൂപ വിലമതിക്കുന്ന കഞ്ചാവ് പിടികൂടിയത്. സംഭവത്തില് കന്യാകുമാരി അഗദീശ്വരം സ്വദേശി ശങ്കര് എ (40), കല്ക്കുളം സ്വദേശി ശിവശങ്കര് എന് (39) എന്നിവരാണ് പിടിയിലായത്.
ചെങ്ങന്നൂര് എക്സൈസ് സര്ക്കിള് പാര്ട്ടിയും റേഞ്ച് പാര്ട്ടിയും സംയുക്തമായാണ് പരിശോധന നടത്തിയത്. എക്സൈസിന് ലഭിച്ച രഹസ്യവിവരത്തെത്തുടര്ന്ന് ചെങ്ങന്നൂര് കാരയ്ക്കാട് ഭാഗത്ത് നടത്തിയ പരിശോധനയിലാണ് വ്യവസായിക അളവിലുള്ള കഞ്ചാവ് പിടിച്ചെടുത്തത്.
In a major drug bust, the Chengannur Excise team seized 20 kg of ganja (cannabis) worth over ₹50 lakh during an election-related special drive. Two Tamil Nadu natives, Shankar A (40) from Agastheeswaram and Shivashankar N (39) from Kalkulam, were arrested while transporting the contraband on a motorcycle. The seizure took place near Karakkad after the Excise circle and range parties conducted a joint operation based on a tip-off. Authorities believe the ganja was intended for large-scale distribution and have launched an investigation into the wider network involved.
